If you are wanting some provisions for when you arrive then please take a look at our pre order collection service due to be launched spring 2007. This will give any of our customers the opportunity to pre-order from our list of essential products either on line or over the phone, and they will be waiting for your collection at the agreed time (subject to availability). All you have to do is call in and collect

July 2008 saw Shobdon Post Office & Stores as finalists once again in the Retailerof the Year Awards, but this time in 2 categories:

Independent Retailer of the Year and

Community Retailer of the Year.

Once again the competition was extremely strong and in both categories Shobdon Post Office & Stores were runner up.

"No we were not at all disappointed." said Martin Lovell who runs the store in North Herefordshire along with his wife Aileen, shop Manager Donna Hicks and 8 other staff.

"We were delighted to be finalists which in itself is a great accolade. To be in the running for one of the top National Awards in the UK is fantastic and we are so pleased for all our staff who are the real winners!"

Having run Shobdon Post Office & Stores since July 2004, Aileen & Martin have certainly made an impact having been in National finals and having won top accolades for the past 3 years.

"We are just delighted that the good work that everyone does every day of the year gets recognised in this way" said Aileen.

The next opportunity is in November when the store is a finalist in two categories at the IAA Awards where they won Overall Best Shop last year.

In November 2007 we were delighted to once again be in the Top 100 stores in the UK as measured by the Independent Achievers Academy, and even more delighted to be a finalist of four of the 12 catergories.

Aileen was unable to attend the Gala Dinner so our youngest son Chris, did the honours, and was overwhelmd when Shobdon Post Office & Stores were named catergory winner for the use of technology, and then named Overall Best Shop 2007.

A tremendous accolade, and we are indebted to our staff for ensuring we continue to provide all that is good in Village Stores.

In November 2006 Shobdon Post office & Stores were finalists in a National Competition recognising the best practice in Convenience and News retailing.

Not only did Shobdon make the top 30, but were runners up in their catergory and were delighted to attend the glittering awards ceremony at the London Waldorf Hotel.

"We were so pleased to make the top 100 stores, so to make the final, and be a runner up, is truly a great recognition of the very good staff we have that help make the shopping environment and experience at Shobdon Post Office and Stores a very pleasant one."

The competition short listed finalists following a review of written submissions, mystery shopper visits and scoring stores against a very strict criteria.

"It's great to know that we are doing many things right, however we continue to look at ways to improve and give all our customers more of what they want from our store"
