Shobdon Church Preservation Trust
The Shobdon Church Preservation Trust (registered charity no. 1100957)
has been formed by a group of mainly local people.
The objective of the Trust is;
'The preservation and upkeep of St John the Evangelist
Parish Church, Shobdon. A Grade 1 listed building
and the education of the public in the history
and architecture of the church'.
Some of the stone damage to the stonework surrounding the main door.
You can benefit the Trust in one of three ways :
1. By bequeathing a specific sum of money.
Since the value of money tends to fall owing to inflation, such a sum should be reviewed from time to time.
2. By making a gift of all or part of the residue of your estate after all other bequests,
taxes and expenses have been paid.
3. By making a specific bequest of a piece of your property that could be sold for the benefit of the Trust,
or a holding in stocks and shares.
The Shobdon Church Preservation Trust is a registered charity, and its registered address is
Belgate House, Shobdon, Leominster Herefordshire HR6 9 NJ.
If you have already made a will, and now want to include the Trust as a beneficiary, you can simply add a
CODICIL, which is legally valid, if signed by you, dated and witnessed.
Suggested forms of wording for bequests and codicils are given below, but you may think it wise to consult
a solicitor to make sure that everything is in order.

SUGGESTED WORDING FOR BEQUESTS
A SPECIFIC SUM OF MONEY
I give to the Shobdon Church Preservation Trust, Belgate House, Shobdon, Leominster Herefordshire HR6 9NJ, herein after called 'the Charity' the sum of .......................................................................................(in words)
such sum to be applied for the general purposes of the Charity,
and I direct that a receipt of the Honorary Treasurer or other authorised officer for the time being of the Charity
shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my Executors for the payment of the aforesaid legacy.
RESIDUARY LEGACY
I give all (or a specified share of) the residue of my estate absolutely to the Shobdon Church Preservation Trust,
Belgate House, Shobdon, Leominster Herefordshire HR 6 9NJ, hereinafter called 'the Charity'
such sum to be applied for the general purposes of the Charity,
and I direct that a receipt of the Honorary Treasurer or other authorised officer for the time being of the Charity
shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my Executors for the payment of the aforesaid legacy.
A SPECIFIC BEQUEST
I make the following charitable gift(s) absolutely to the Shobdon Church Preservation Trust,
Belgate House, Shobdon, Leominster Herefordshire HR 6 9NJ, hereinafter called 'the Charity'

The Charity shall have full power to realise such assets and apply the proceeds to the general
purposes of the Charity and I direct that a receipt of the Honorary Treasurer or other authorised
